Welcome to Dundale Primary School

Our Green Team, (Enterprise Club), have been busy designing and producing 'Sweet Hearts' to sell for Valentine's Day.
Hello
I am delighted and feel very proud to be the new Head Teacher of Dundale Primary School and Nursery. My five years as Deputy Head have flown by, because I really have had so much fun learning alongside pupils, parents, staff, governors and the wider Tring community. I have been fortunate to have got to know so many of you since joining Dundale, and now would like to take this opportunity to share with everyone a little more about myself.
I live with my partner Fiona and our daughter Jemima, who is now almost two and a half years old. My first daughter Matilda will be in Year 8 this year. Fiona trained as a journalist and currently works in London for The Department for Work and Pensions.
Before coming to Dundale in September 2006, I taught in a community primary school in the London Borough of Camden. Fiona and I decided to move back to Hertfordshire, where we were both brought up, to start a family. We lived for a year in Aldbury, where we quickly saw for ourselves the community spirit at work - especially the important role of the primary school in the life of the village. We have many happy memories of our time in Aldbury.
My passion for education comes in part from my parents. My parents valued education for their own children, because they both left school without any formal qualifications. I did well at school because my parents believed in me – something I have always remembered as a teacher.
I went to my local primary school in Harpenden, where I was very happy and discovered a love of learning from an early age. From there I went on to attend St Albans School, after which I read History at Brasenose College, University of Oxford and later completed my PGCE at the Institute of Education, University of London. These places have, of course, influenced my thinking about schools and education. Most importantly, I believe it is essential for us all to instil the values of community, achievement and enjoyment in our young children. As the new Head Teacher at Dundale, I will strive to provide the best opportunities for all the children in our school – academic, artistic, athletic, moral and spiritual. I will also be working closely with our partners at Orchard Children’s Centre to ensure that the youngest members of our community are ready to get the most out of school when they start.
Finally, I would like to thank all of you who have supported my appointment, and will finish by saying that I would have no chance of fulfilling any of my ambitions for the children at Dundale, if it were not for the dedicated team that serve this school so well.
Best wishes
Allan Lowe
